[The following is an email received from Pastor David Ntidenza, pastor of our sister parish in Nyagatare, Rwanda. It explains how they have spent money that was recently sent to them by Holy Redeemer and American Lutheran Church in Woodland — our co-sponsor of the sister parish.]

Dear Pastors, John and Vern

Greetings in Jesus name, I would like to greet Lisa and Mike. On behalf of myself and Nyagatare parish, especially the children and youth, we thank you for the support you sent. Our friends from American Lutheran Church in Woodland last time they sent $595 for children of Nyagatare. When I asked children what they want to do for that gift you sent they told us that they wanted to purchase a keyboard for music, but unfortunately these funds couldn't purchase the keyboard.

But our youth also have funds for music instruments which also couldn't purchase instruments. One day the youth and children sat down together and agreed to bring together their funds to see if they can purchase at least one instrument for choir music. But funds of youth and kids couldn't manage to purchase instruments.

I would like to thank our friends from Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church who added $500 to this account of music instruments.

I would like to mention the amount of that funds and how we purchase music instrument of phase one. 1. Funds from youth account was $460 2. Funds of children account was  $513 (after subtracting charges) 3. Funds from Holy Redeemer was $437(after subtracting charges). The total was $1,410.   Expenditures: 1. Key board   YAMAHA 700—$1,284; 2. Stabilizer for power—$46; 3. packet of diskettes—$54; separate machine for diskettes $315; transportation for of Dani Ruzaza (who knows the good type of instruments), my evangelist (Robert), and I, and the transport of the machines—$44; Total of expenses = $1,410.

We are very happy that we have some instruments. Our phase two we will be to purchase: 1 Mixer; 2 big speakers, and microphones. I will send the picture of that keyboard if it will go through. [NOTE: Click here to see pictures of the keyboard!]

Once again thank you very much and may God himself bless you.

Our Love greetings to our brothers and sisters in Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church and American Lutheran Church in Woodland.

[When we send money to Rwanda there are always charges subtracted — these ere normally bank charges, transportation charges, and synod charges — they amount to roughly 13% to 24%, depending upon what the money is designated for.]
